I have recently been deeply touched by two things.
The first is the unfolding news story about the death (and possible murder) of Gabby Petito.
The second is a movie that I watched called Run, Hide, Fight.
What do these have in common?
Both involve a pretty young girl who suffered greatly and somebody should have protected them from what they suffered!
Gabby Petito may have died at the hands of the man who said he loved her (this is not definitive at the point I am writing this).
In Run, Hide, Fight young Zoe Hull lives out in real time the violent and horrific situation of a school shooting where she has to be the one that rises up as the hero.
There was a cover of an old hippie/protest song in the closing credits that moved me on an intense level (I'll post it for you here in a moment).
The song (Eve Of Destruction) really seemed to capture and leave lingering in the air the mournful question "what kind of world have we left to the next generation?"
"What has been lost?"
A powerful intercessory prayer overcame me as I wept and warred before God for the next generation of young women and men.
Then it hit me.
These two girls (real world Gabby Petito and fictional Zoe Hull) are the same kind of women that are being consumed and devoured as the men who should be their protectors dive into pornography.
My heart broke even more.
God filled me with a desire to become a protector and a rescuer of the next generation.
I want our daughters (and sons) to receive a world where they can reasonably hope to be treated with dignity and to be valued, not degraded into sex objects.
I personally am asking God to help me turn this heart revelation into powerful stuff for recovery and overcoming.
Men of God, the next generation needs you; not to devour and consume them, but to come to their protection and rescue.
Rise up fathers and uncles and grandfathers and older brothers!
Where are the mighty men of God?
